Today lets chat about how HPG Brush came to be.
After being in the Painting Industry for 10+ years we had tried all the brushes and brands you can think of. There are some really great brushes and brands out there today but we thought what the hell - Lets see what we can make.
Matt really took the time to research and understand the science behind paint brush bristles and what materials were used and why they were used. After months and months of reading, he reached out to some manufacturers to see what they would say. After lots of late night calls & emails back and forth about concept designs with "no, not like that and can you change this" conversations, minimum order numbers, a few thousand dollars, customer taxes and weeks of waiting. The boxes finally arrived!
We had hundreds of paint brushes. What to do now? The worst case scenario - we would never have to purchase a paint brush ever again.
We liked using the brushes, we loved the softness of the bristles, light in our hands, holds a great amount of paint and washes up amazingly! Maybe if we send some out for free to Painter's we follow on Instagram and see what they think of them. The feedback overall was 50/50 some were saying they were too soft and preferred a firmer brush, while others absolutely LOVED THEM.
So, we decided to make another batch, trying to keep the softness but making them firmer for the ones that wanted that. Which in all honesty we didn't love for ourselves. Back to the drawing board we went! Instead of trying to please everyone in 1 brush we came up with our 'Oval Trim Brush' for the ones that like the super soft style and our 'Oval Sash Brush' for the ones that like a brush with more stiffness.
And now here we are, with an line of 6 different products to suit a wide range of Painter's preferences and styles.
